The Chesshire Lehmann Fund is open to applicants across England although applications from the North West and the South East regions are particularly welcome. There are 2 funding streams:

  1. Research - applicants can apply for a maximum of £5,000
  2. Community action – community groups/not-for-profit organisations can apply for up to £2,000 for a researcher or academic institution to assist with evaluation work

Before making an application to the Chesshire Lehmann Fund, please make sure you are eligible to apply and have read the 2011 funding priorities.

Who can apply?

There are two streams:

Research - a researcher from an academic institution or the academic institution itself can apply for funding, preference will be given to new post graduates. An academic institution is an educational institution dedicated to education and research.

Community Action – community groups/not-for-profit organisations must have direct engagement with low income households and be active in local communities.

Exclusions

  • For applicants to the Community Action stream, larger community groups/not-for-profit organisations receiving aggregate external funding of over £25,000 will not be able to apply.
  • Retrospective funding, meaning support for work that has already taken place.
  • General research consultancies cannot apply for funding.

If your application is successful, grantees must submit an interim and final report about their results – a minimum of 2 sides of A4 for the interim report. The report should focus on the results and findings of the research.
